Here are a couple of notes I received in the mail. Sit tight for a few minutes and I'll tell you about them.
Letter one is from a very nice Director who came to Ohio to shoot a commercial for a popular soft-drink using a professional athlete as the spokesperson on a high school football field in a busy residential neighborhood. When the rain finally stopped and the sun came out, so did the lawnmowers and leaf blowers.
Letter two is from a gentleman in Portsmouth, Ohio. I was asked to go participate in a commercial shoot for one of the local hospitals. The shoot was taking place on the letter-writer's property. Aside from the chaos of a multi-camera commercial production, there was a regular hootenanny going on. I wandered into the company of a trio of wonderful musicians: John Simon playing the guitar, John Hollback on the fiddle, and Bea Hollback plucking the bass. I stepped up and started recording. When they took a break, without any prompting from me, they launched into a story about old-timey music and Mr. Hollback's long stretch in the army. I kept my mouth shut and my recorder rolling.
A number of months later, I finally found time to cut the story and music into a short (5:40) audio clip. I packed up a CD and sent it to Mr. Simon. A few days later, I received this sad and touching note in the mail.
